This handy acrylic tool doubles as a gauge swatch measurer and a knitting needle sizer!

To Measure Your Gauge:
Place your blocked gauge swatch (which should be AT LEAST 4”x4”) under the ULTIMATE GAUGER so the swatch is lying flat and the stitches can be seen in the square cutout area of the gauger.
To determine Stitches per inch: Count the number of stitches in the cutout area of the frame from left to right and divide by 4. Do this at the bottom, middle and top of the cutout and take an average of the three numbers. This is your number of stitches per inch.
To determine Rows per inch: Count the number of rows of knitting in the cutout area of the frame from bottom to top and divide by 4. Do this at the left, middle and right of the cutout area and take an average of the three numbers. This is your number of rows per inch.
To Determine Your Knitting Needle Size:
Works with knitting needles sizes US 0-19 / 2-15mm
Place the tip of the knitting needle into one of the round holes on the top and/or the right side of the gauger that looks similar in size to the needle. You may need to try larger or smaller holes from this point to find the smallest hole your needle will fit in. The needle may be snug in the hole, but NEVER FORCE THE NEEDLE into a hole. The smallest hole the needle will fit in will indicate the size of the needle. Both the mm and US sizes are etched by the corresponding hole.
